At the end of 2010, we decided to become partners of the International Alliance Save the Children at the tenth edition of the Christmas Trees Festival, to support the education of the unfavoured children.

The charitable event gathered together 18 renowned designers, amongst which:

  • Venera Arapu
  • Irina Marinescu
  • Oxette
  • Iris Serban
  • Claudia Castrase
  • Ingrid Vlasov
  • Ana Wagner

They created 23 original Christmas trees, each expressing in a different manner what Christmas and the joy to give means. The Christmas trees were auctioned during a gala organised at the Parliament Palace, where important personalities of the public life in Romania and of course Banca Romaneasca management participated.

The evening of 9 December was special, colourful, warm, with trees ingeniously decorated, dedicated to the children that need support to have a happy childhood and access to education.

Romanian companies and businessmen donated 274.490 euro for the children from Save the Children centres, auctioning the Christmas trees exclusively created for this edition of the Christmas Trees Festival. The collected funds ensure support for the 43 socio-educational centres that Save the Children Romania has in 39 cities of the country. Only in 2010, the social workers of Save the Children Romania identified 7.953 children found in risk situation, making the decision to include them in programs of school integration/reintegration. With sustained efforts and support from the sponsors, the children benefit from educational support, psychological counselling and material aid.

The bank was one of the sponsors of the organisation, ensuring in this way the education and familial support for 30 children for three months.
